Abundance has occurred once again, at Theatre Works. This year, the fundraiser supports four independent theatre shows; Elbow Room’s The Motion of Light in Water, Uninvited Guests’ I Heart John McEnroe, Dirty Pretty Theatre’s Thérèse Raquin and Little Ones Theatre’s The House of Yes. Like last year, the event was a glorious night of exquisite cabaret-style performances with fab artists including Jane Badler, Grammy award winner Jeff Bova,Virginia Gay and Roderick Cairns (a spectacular cover of Space Oddity as an ode to Virginia’s nephew,) Beau Heartbreaker, Nicholas Renfree-Marks, Angela Hogan, Joseph Chetty and Luisa Hastings Edge (doing Kate Bush’s Babooshka!) amidst a set of a golden fishing village inhabited by eccentric and mildly-grotesque fish people (designed by yours truly.)
Simon won the most coveted prize of the evening. The chook raffle. Two chooks that had been lovingly cared for. And they will soon be savoured.
Also performing was Jane Badler, who played the ultimate super-b* villain as Diana in the series V. I remember collecting playing cards with Diana on them, which, at that time, I could purchase for a mere 15 cents for a whole sheet of 20 perforated cards.
Of course, there was also the very popular photo-booth.
And there was dance.
Including this chicken dance. (View dance here)
Would ma’am like some chicken salt on your chips?
